First Day of Preschool!!

My sweet boy is heading off to preschool. He is so excited! I'm pretty excited for him too! The night before, I had him sit down and unpack his lunch and open all his containers to make sure he could do it. Glad I did because that water bottle didn't work-the spout was too hard to lift up. Excuse his hair-it dried weird after his bath, looks like he is in the 1920's.

The next morning showing me how he can run fast with his backpack:). He's going from 8:30-12:30 so it's not too long of a day for him.

First day! His only request was that he wear his Brian McCann jersey.

Of course, Avery had to try on his backpack and walk around with it too and get a picture made by the front door. She kept saying, "my turn." He's been in school since August 16th and she has only mentioned two times as we were dropping him off that she "wanted to play with her Alex." And when it's time to go get him she's say, "Mommy, I go pick up Alex" with a big smile on her face.

With his teachers Mrs. Cindy and Mrs. Cassandra. They are great! They already told me he is a "pro" at preschool! HAHA! When he gets in the car he tells me his clip is still on green first thing-you know the red, yellow, and green light for their behavior. He did get it moved to yellow yesterday for not walking when they asked him twice, but he told me as soon as he got in the car-hope he is always so forthright with his behavior. He had a great first week!

Abbie's Karate test

Last Saturday we went to see our cousin, Abbie, take her karate test for her green belt, which she passed! We are so proud of her! It was pretty cool and nerve-racking to watch so I can only imagine being her down on the floor. It's definitely NOT what I would have done at 7.

We were pretty high up so the pictures are dark. Here she is ready to do her first test.

Showing off her kicking moves!

After she did her "moves" (not sure what else to call them:)), she had to go up to this table and answer a question. Look at all these people at this table! Intimidating!

She's on the left sparring.

Congratulations Abbie! We can't wait to come to your next test and see you break the board!

Alabama Adventures with Henley

We went to Alabama Adventures in Birmingham the week before Alex started preschool. Henley, her parents, Brad and Chanda, and Brad's parents went too. It was a rainy, yucky day to start off and we weren't sure we made the right decision to go but it turned out to be perfect-not too hot and not crowded at all. The kids had a blast! We got there about 11ish I think and left about 5.

Henley is Avery's age. She loves Alex!

I can picture this when they are 16-stuck in a ditch somewhere. Brad kept telling Avery which way to turn the wheel but for the most part they hung out right here. When they did become unstuck, Avery had the wheel turned and they just went in circles! Crazy girls!

Alex got to ride this roller coaster all by himself-told you it wasn't crowded.

On the Ferris wheel! Alex really wanted to ride this.

Henley walking to do the slide for the 50th time.

Brad, Henley, and Chanda.

The girls loved the slides! We did them a 100 times, no joke.

When we went last year with my parents she got in these swings. I didn't think she would want to do it again.

Sharing an icee on our way out of the park. He held it for her and kept telling her not to drink too much:).

DarDar and Grandaddy's visit

Mom and Dad came in town the first weekend in August. Unfortunately, these are all the pictures I got, right before they left. We just relaxed and had a nice laid back time, enjoying Grandaddy!:) Who by the way, is doing better every day. He is now doing cardiac rehab MWF and says he feels stronger after every session. I love you Dad!

Avery's big girl bed!

On the morning of August 4th, I went in to get Avery out of bed and she had gotten her hips over the rail and was about to hit the ground. She did it again the next morning when my parents went to get her. So that night John and I removed the front of her bed to make it a day bed. She loves it! She calls it her "big girl" bed. She did really well staying in it the fist couple of days but then realized her freedom. She has never been able to open doors, but NOW she can! So I had to put doorknob covers on and yesterday morning she took one of those off! She also loves that her and Alex share a Jack and Jill bathroom and they can talk to each other through that door. She calls for him (doesn't say "I" anymore-it now sounds more like Alex)and they touch fingers under the door and talk. It was cute once and now I have to put a stop to that nonsense!:) Today during nap time she kept getting her swimsuit (that she wore as a newborn) out of her closet and dancing around the middle of her room. I took all of her stuffed animals out of her bed and she finally cried herself to sleep. Hopefully that will be the end of that, yeah right.

IJump

Can you tell I'm trying to do as much fun stuff as I can before Alex's preschool starts? We went to Birmingham the first week of August with a bunch of friends to IJump-a place full of inflatables. They had a blast! Avery started climbing on this huge slide the minute we got there and we lost her a few times because she was so quick to get to the next thing.

She wanted to ride the go-carts so bad with Alex and Caden but was too short:(.

Playing with "Lark."

Alex and Avery going up together.

This is what I lost her in for a few minutes. I didn't even know she had gone in this thing. On the other side was an obstacle course which was a little hard for her to maneuver but she didn't care.

Alex ready to go in his red car!

Playing in the backyard!

We had some friends come over a couple of weeks ago to play in the new pool Avery got for her birthday (Thank you, Nanny and Great-Grandaddy!) and the slipnslide. After bubble guns and baseball and Robin using her thing in the car to blow up the stuff we were finally ready to play!:)

Thomas, Graham, Alex, Avery, John Thomas, and Jackson had a lot of fun!

Thomas and Alex couldn't wait to race down the slipnslide!

Playing baseball.

Jackson and Graham liked to sit and drink the water from the slipnslide.
