Fun Day of SlipnSliding!

Alex got this Cars slipnslide for "payment" for his ad he did for Papa. He had been dying to use it so finally a good time came! They were so excited!

Avery really got the hang of it!

Alex is all about who is first and second. This slide has a flag to grab at the end so you know who is first. It is perfect for him! Anywhere we go, grocery store, library, park, he yells (as we cross the thresh hold or arrive at the car), "Mom, I'm first, you are second, and Avery was third. That means she's last!" And of course, that is said in his loud 4 year old voice!

Granddan's birthday!

June is a month full of birthdays for us! We celebrated Granddan's 87th birthday earlier in June. We love you so much and hope you had a great day!

The kids always love helping blow out candles and opening presents.

Alex had to show Granddan and Mimi his new Explorer game.

And of course, Avery had to see it too!

Avery's (hospital) birthday party!

Avery turned two on June 17th! We had a great day, although it was in the hospital. We got her some Minnie Mouse cupcakes and she had a few presents to open so she had a fun time!

She ate a pink iced doughnut with sprinkles for breakfast that morning.

The birthday girl and her sweet brother!

Opening some birthday presents. We gave her a polka dot piggy bank and a Bama tshirt. Uncle Russell and Aunt Nan gave her a puppy pillow pet.

Alex with his minnie mouse ring.

Abbie, a friend's daughter from church, was there to celebrate with us!

Happy Birthday sweet girl! We love you!

All about Avery:
She went for her two year check up June 23rd. She was 35 1/2 in. long (90th percentile) and she weighed 30 lbs (75th percentile). She is such a sweet happy girl (most times). She can get very upset if she doesn't get her way. A mom from church told me just yesterday when talking about her daughter, "A piece of art is a better way to describe her than a piece of work." I agree 100%:)! She loves to do everything by herself from climbing in her car seat to walking up stairs. She loves to say, "I sit my knees." She says it so matter of factly which makes it so funny. She loves the Bow Wow song from kindermusik. She only knows a few words but hums her way through the rest till she gets to the part she knows. Avery loves Minnie Mouse! She pulls up YouTube on my phone (or Grammy's) and watches Mickey Mouse clubhouse. This is one of her favorite things to do before and after she eats at a restaurant. I know it's crazy! She is very good at navigating YouTube which is very scary! She is a little bit of a "mother hen." When we are in the car she will say, "Momma, buck up!" and keeps telling me this until I do. She can't say Alex so she calls him "I." It is so sweet. He loves it! He is so good to her...he will say, "Avery, am I your brother?" and laughs when she says yes. Her sleeping routine is long and drawn out. She has started potty training (sort of). She has pooped on the potty for about the last week and a half. She pee pees before nap time and bedtime and occasionally other times. So she does that before she goes to bed, then she has to have "baby socks" which is just regular socks-don't know why she started calling them that, she has to have her "blanks" and you have to cover up her and everyone else in bed with her, usually a baby, two minnies, and her puppy pillow pet or a kitty. When she sits on the potty she points at everything in the bathroom and we talk about what color they are. Then she wants to sing He's got the whole world in his hands. And if she pottys she gets to wear a headband and Minnie Mouse underwear if we aren't going anywhere. She loves to say, "I wear my hedbed and min mou uh-wear?" while she is in the bathroom. OK, enough bathroom talk. She is a pretty good eater-loves chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers, kiwi, blueberries, cereal bars, turkey sausage, popcorn, ring pops (always gets these at the movies:)), bananas, macaroni and cheese, green beans, fruit chews, and anything sweet!
