Caden's Visits and a naptime breakthrough! (I hope!)

He actually calls her "Ca-Ca" or "Caden Weez" (Her middle name is Louise) It is so cute! They have hit it off since we first met almost a year ago. Caden has always been so verbal and tells Alex what to do and what he wants. Like any good woman right? Caden's family lives out of town so we kept her for her parents to go out for an anniversary lunch alone and for her mom to go consignment shopping one day. Alex loves when Ca-Ca visits!! Ally got Alex a Thomas the train track at the consignment sale. He loved it! Him and Caden played with it the rest of the time together.

One would play the drum and one would play the guitar and they would tell me to dance. Then they would switch instruments and I had to dance again. They are usually pretty good about taking turns when they want the same thing.

They had to push their chairs together so they could sit by each other for lunch. How sweet is that?

Outside with their new bubble blowers! Thanks again Ally!

***We have been trying to get him to stay in his bed through the duration of naptime hoping that would make him fall asleep because he has not been taking naps well. I also had to include "DO NOT touch the blinds!" because he kept banging them against the window and I know the older couple next door will see him and think he is trying to escape:) Last Sunday-during naptime, he pulled his chest of drawers down on himself as he was trying to climb it. It was one of the scariest moments! Thank goodness it landed on his stool and so did not completely fall on him. We took him to the ER later because he had major bruising on his head. They did a CT scan but everything was ok. Praise the Lord! I had taken everything out of his room that he could even think about playing with. Today, for the first time, he stayed in his bed the entire time and took a 3 hour nap!!! It's the first time since we've moved him to the big bed that I didn't have to go and put him back in or tell him to stop hitting the blinds. I hope today is a turn around for naps!:) Also, we have mounted his chest to the wall now so it can't tip and I feel much better about him being in there.

Sweet words!

A few pictures for you...Alex at kindermusik holding up his frog.

During kindermusik story time...

Alex's Great Uncle Jack had knee surgery earlier this month. We went and visited him one night. Alex said hey and then had to play trains with Great Aunt Betty...

And cousin Abbie...

So in the last couple of weeks Alex has said some of the craziest and sweetest things. I had to write them down so unless you are a grandparent or sweet family member you may want to skip this part.

When we were visiting my parents in Nashville, he would just out of the blue walk up to mom or dad and say, "Roll Tide, Dar Dar! (or Nenny-depending on who it was). It was like he had been practicing it. Of course, they would say Go Vandy right back to him:)

He has a book about Big Al (Alabama's mascot) and how Big Al walks by all of these landmark places in Tuscaloosa on the way to a football game. Big Al walks by Denny Chimes in one part, which is the bell tower on campus, I don't think it has any other importance:). We have some plastic cups from the football games and one of them had Denny Chimes on it. He saw it the other day and said "What's at mama?" I told him, Denny Chimes. He said, "Big Al go by Denny Chimes." It was amazing to me that he had made that connection. I said, "you're right," and then he said, "I go by Denny Chimes." It was so funny!

A couple of weeks ago we drove by a gas station and he said, "What's at mama?" I told him a gas station then went on to explain how you put gas in your car and it makes your car go. So now when you ask him what a gas station does he says, "makes the car go." Super Funny!

He is getting so opinionated and definitely hitting the "terrible twos(thank goodness these "terrible" moments are just in little spurts throughout the week)." I didn't realize they would really hit at 2 but they sure are! He has NEVER mentioned or cared what he wore. A while back I went to put a red shirt on him and he looked at me and kept saying, "no red! no red, mama!" It was quiet comical. YES-I made him keep the red shirt on. I told him he was two and he was not telling me what he was going to wear. He has also started saying, "Unbuckle me mama!" When he is in his car seat and (I guess) doesn't want to be there anymore. Oh well!

He still definitely has his sweet moments. Almost always, (except for a hot dog) when he is eating something he will hold it out to me or John and say, "want some?" It is too cute!
The other day when I was leaving the living room to run out to the car to get something he yelled after me, "Be careful, mama!" It almost melted my heart. He now says it a lot to us...guess he hears it alot from us:)
Two nights ago all three of us were on the couch reading his bedtime book and saying prayers. I prayed and then he said, "Daddy pray." John prayed and then Alex said, "I pray." We said ok and his prayer went like this, "Lor, Thank, mama, daddy, ummm...amen." It was the first time he had ever said a prayer by himself. PRECIOUS!!!! Tonight he said it again and it also included Mimi, Papa, Dar Dar, and Nenny. I guess he will add more names the more he prays:) I'm sure if your name was left off it was just because he was in a hurry to go to sleep:)

Down on the Farm

Last Saturday one of the guys in John's practice invited us to come out to his farm with a couple of other families. We had the best time! Alex's eyes were opened to a whole new world of fish, cows, 4 wheelers and bobcats(the riding kind-not the wild animal:))
The pictures aren't in order so bear with me. Alex loved the 4 wheeler when I came riding up on it. He rode it with me and John, but then wouldn't ride it with just me when I wanted to take him around. He wanted to get off and said, "No, see daddy." Daddy was throwing football at the time so I guess that was more fun??:)

I think I got most of the kids that were out there. Alex loves being with older kids and interacting with them, but he really didn't even act like they were there until we went out to look at the cows, which was the last hour or so of our 4 hour trip. But then he started imitating them and following them around-see him looking at the girls.

He wouldn't touch the worm but he was interested in what it was.

We got Subway to take out there and Kathy(another mom) had like 40 hot dogs, not realizing we had bought our own food. And Jenna(another mom) bought a Chickfila party tray. There was a ton of food and Alex enjoyed it all! He ate this sandwich plus chicken, vanilla wafers, chips, etc. He was starved!

Fishing with dad.

"I fishin' momma!"

Checking out the crickets-but not touching them!

Looking at the fish-but not touching it!

John caught him a fish! But by this time he was over fishing. :(

Our picnic.

Looking at the cows with dad. Alex kept making the sign for more and saying "more cows." He loved just looking at them.

Following Janie and Emma. He was so funny...one of the girls said, "It's so hot" and put her hand up. Alex did the exact same thing and then walked off behind them. He is hilarious!

With the big kids.

Visit to Nashville and Pregnant picture

We went last weekend while John was on call. We knew we wouldn't see him much-if any-so it was a good time to go see my family. Friday night we went to the mall for Alex to ride the carousel. He was so excited and kept saying, "ride horsey." So I thought for sure he would love it! He had been on a carousel before probably when he was 1 1/2 and did just fine. He was picking out his horse and everything. THEN when it came time to actually ride on one-he wouldnt!! Dad went up there with him and of course didn't really make him sit on one so they ended up sitting on the bench. GO FIGURE!!

We went and did some other things and then came back to the carousel again and he was saying he would ride the horse. So him and Dad went up there and again he wouldn't ride. I walked up there and sat him on it. Does that make me a bad mom? Sometimes he just needs a little push to realize he'll be ok. He was holding on tight to Nenny (still working on saying "grandaddy." He can say it but I think he is just lazy and Nenny is faster) but I think he eventually relaxed:)

Sharing cheetos with Nenny.

Playing with Jaden at church. One would pop up and the other would sit down. It was too funny! I thought Alex might say something about his paci but he never mentioned it:)

For those of you wondering how I look-here I am at 23.5 wks. I think some swelling is starting and I'm tired but other than that things are pretty good. We still haven't decided on a name. We will tell as soon as we know!

Visits with Mamaw and Papaw

Just had to share these sweet pictures. We try to go over and see Mamaw and Papaw every other week or so at least. They always fix me and Alex the BEST meal! Lots of yummy vegetables and desserts! They have been married 69 years! Isn't that amazing!!!???
