I tried to take some photos...

Alex was still napping and Avery had on a sweet dress so I decided to try and do a photo shoot last Wednesday. I am by no means a photographer, but I thought, "hey, how hard can it be?" My answer was a resounding, "VERY HARD."
I couldn't get her to stop watching the noggin network at first.
"
Then she gave me all of these faces...

Then she fell over when I turned away for just one second...

And then Alex woke up and I took them outside to attempt some more pictures. I layed a blanket on the grass and envisioned Alex holding Avery every so sweetly and me getting some wonderful pictures! That, again, did not happen! This was the best one and by "best" I mean they are both sitting up and he is looking at the camera.

After I got them situated I stood up and turned around and this is what he was doing...

Poor Avery!

Cleanliness is a virtue, right?

I remember when we were pregnant with Alex, John and I took a parenting/baby course at the hospital. The instructor asked us to name one thing about our spouse that we wanted our baby to have. Most of the men said sweet things like, "her heart" or "my wife's sweet smile." I knew John would have something interesting to say and it probably wouldn't be sappy sweet:) He said he wanted Alex to have my "cleanliness." YEP those are his exact words and I think he got what he wished for. Alex likes to help clean up and sweep and shut drawers and cabinets. But today he did the funniest thing. I change his diaper on his bed. At the foot of his bed on the floor is a basket with diapers, wipes, and a towel in case of dirty diapers then I lay him on it. Usually I leave the towel in the basket cause most of his diapers are just wet. Today before his nap I told him to go lay down so I could change his diaper. I put Avery in the swing (where she is now sleeping) and went in to change him. He had gotten the towel out and was laying on top of it. Then as I started to change him I realized he was dirty. My smart boy knew he needed a towel under him because he was dirty and we don't want to get poop on his bedspread. I LOVE IT!!! Because no post is complete without pictures! With Dar Dar and Grandaddy Playing drums at Alec's house. Picking vegetables out of Papaw's garden with Papa and Avery. Looking at the big trucks with Thomas.
He loved playing the drums! To try and get him potty trained we promised him a trumpet and/or trombone (because that's what he was talking about wanting)but it didn't work. He loves musical instruments! At the end of this video in case you can't decipher it he says, "you gonna do a video?" Because I told him I was videoing him.

Avery is two months old!

Avery was two months old on August 17th. She weighed 10lbs 12oz and was in the 50th percentile. She was 22 inches long which was 25-50th percentile. She is growing up so fast! She is smiling more and more everyday. She LOVES to lay on her changing table and look at her fan. It always makes her smile and she just coos! It is the sweetest thing. She still is not sleeping in her bed during the day. She loves her car seat and bouncy seat for daytime sleeping! But we are working on it-today she took a morning nap for about an hour in her bed but now she is in her bouncy seat so who knows!!??:) At night she is doing pretty good. This past Saturday she slept from 10:30-6:30 and a couple of weeks before that she slept from 8:30-5:30. But she likes to wake up between 4:30-5:30am for a bottle. I've still got to stretch her to 7am,eventually! My parents were here this weekend and mom thought Avery's eyebrows were turning strawberry blond and I just had a friend over and she said the same thing. We shall see!

This is her first smile I got on camera.

Avery and Paige (9 days younger).

Yep, she still has the big bib on. She spits up all the time!

She doesn't have too many sleeping pictures yet because if she's quiet I don't want to go wake her up.

August...so far!

John always tells me Alex's pj's are too tight. Which they are supposed to be snug(in my defense)for fire purposes :). So I got him some new ones. He, of course, loved the cars on them and then for some reason felt he needed to put his spiderman flip flops on that my parents gave him that are probably 2-3 sizes too big.

And he also needed to get out the spiderman neck cushion. He tried to put it around him like a boppy saying he could feed Avery! It was hilarious!

I loved the way his little toes fit into the flip flops.

Granddan and Avery. He is so sweet with her!

We got to go eat lunch with Great-Grandaddy and Nanny the other day. It was so nice because we hadn't seen them in a while. We need to get together more often.

This sweet lady in my parent's neighborhood made this blanket for Avery.

One afternoon when I was fixing supper Alex wanted to go out and play baseball. He had to have his bear backpack on and I had to prop the porch door open for him and he set up all his stuff. It was so cute seeing him carry all his stuff out there. When he was finished he told me to sit in the grass in a chair (which is what I always did when I was pregnant) and watch him hit. He's putting 3rd base down in this picture.

We went to Ally's pool and this is about the only minute Avery slept. So I didn't get much pool time:( I know her diaper looks extra full but it wasn't. She must have been slouched weird. Don't think I'm a bad mom!
