Kids' conversation tonight in the car

Before you read this you need to know the backstory. Wagner's is a shoe store we go to often. They also have fun kid games, rain coats, toys, etc. The kids always talk about these plate sets they have for sale: a green turtle one for him and a pink butterfly one for her. Avery always says she wants it for her birthday.

Avery had been fussy and whiny all day. So tonight in the car, on the way home, she had calmed down and Alex and her were talking in the backseat as John and I eavesdropped. This is how the conversation went (I am paraphrasing here a bit).

Alex: Avery, do you want that pink butterfly plate from the shoe store for your birthday (sidenote: her birthday isn't until June 17th)?

Avery: What plate?

Alex: You know, the one at Wagner's, the shoe store.

Avery: Yeah, Yeah, I want that.

Alex: Mama, would that be ok?

Me: Yeah, I think that is a great birthday present for her.

Alex: No, Avery I'm not going to give you that. I'll get you something else. I'll give you a tree.

Alex then leans in from the backseat and "whispers" to me, "Mom, it's going to be a surprise so I'm not going to tell her that's what I'm getting her." I whisper back, "Ok, Alex."

Avery: (starts to whine) No, I don't want trees.

Alex: I will give you the biggest present in the world.

Me: The Lorax loves trees. That's a great idea!

She then calmed down and the conversation died...

Dr. Seuss' birthday

Alex's school had a party for Dr. Seuss' birhday. They got to try green eggs and ham and wear silly socks and hats to celebrate!

Here is some of his artwork that was displayed.
He LOVED the green eggs and ham!
Elliott, Miles, Alex, Ford, and Andrew.

The boys showing off their silly socks and hats-Jack P., Alex, Andrew, Tyler, Miles, and Elliott.
More kids wanted their picture taken-Jack P., Giles, Alex, Andrew, Jack G., Miles, and Ella.
Seuss' hat.
When I grow up I am going to be a superhero and policman!

Fun Days in February!

Playing at CHOM.

We took them to a baseball game one night. We grabbed some Valentine's candy to snack on during the game. YUM fun dip!

I think their favorite part was riding the Alabama bus back to our car. They couldn't sit still they were so excited!
Jack and Stella came to play when we were out for President's Day. Stella came to eat lunch with us and Alex, Jack, and Avery got to go play at Avery's gymnastics gym for a few hours.
Cool girl!

Nashville

We made a quick trip up to Nashville the end of February for my Uncle Russ' funeral. He was married to Aunt Linda, my Dad's sister. It was a sad time, but I was glad to get to go up for a quick visit AND I learned that my kids like looking at who is laying in the casket. Very strange, I know!

They both piled in and slept with DarDar! Yeah for me!

The kids went to visitation with us Friday night but then Bailey came and kept them for me during the service Saturday. I thought for sure Avery would sleep since she had missed her nap the day before but obviously Bailey was too much fun! No naps for these kids, especially when she brings fun card games and light up drinking cups to use!

I think Tristan is choking!:)
On the carousel.
Russell and Nan met us for lunch after church Sunday. Avery loves her some Tristan and I think he is starting to like her some more too. Sweet kisses!
She was one tired girl!

Avery's gymnastics class

Avery started taking gymnastics again in January. The girl thinks she is a pro! Everwhere we go she does a "gymnastic move"-whether it's a restaurant, walking somewhere, or sitting in church-you never know what position Avery will be in and she always says, "Look, I do this in gymnastics."

Every week she gets a coloring sheet and she just has to color it. This one she gave to Papaw to hang up in his room.
It was bring a friend week! We invited Breanna and Sarah to come and Henley is already in her class.
Henley, Avery, Breanna, and Sarah. Such sweet girls!
At the end of class they get stamps and Ms. Lauren always makes them put their hands on their heads.
After our "bring a friend" class all the girls were dancing in the middle of McAlisters.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Alex and Ford waiting to play some fun "valentine's" games! Ford is so sweet...everytime I walk into the classroom he says, "Hey Mrs. Rachel!" I mean everytime!
Alex and Jack P.
Jack, Alex. and Miles. Cute boys!
Alex's valentine's box.
That night John was on call so we went to an Alabama basketball game. The kids were dressed so cute and then they covered them up with the free white t-shirt:(.
They also got to open their Valentine's gift from Grammy and Papa. Woo Hoo!
Happy Valentine's!

Great-Grandaddy's birthday and Louis' visit

Early February we got together at Grammy and Papa's house to celebrate Great-Grandaddy's birthday and visit with his brother, Louis, who came in from California.
Of course, the kids LOVED the cupcake cake!

Check out these mouths!

Richard (Great-Grandaddy) and his brother, Louis. We had fun getting to see him again.
