Avery is 18 months old!

December 17th our crazy little girl turned 18 months old! She went for her check up on the 16th. She weighed 25.9 lbs and was 32 inches long. That puts her at 50th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight.

She is a precious, sweet, baby girl, but she also has a strong personality and knows exactly what she wants. She will take a toy or whatever from Alex and look him dead in the eye as he cries or yells and when he reaches for it she will snatch it back. She will tease him with something he wants-she will pretend like she is going to give it to him and then she will pull it back. It seems like she does it for the pure joy she gets from terrorizing her brother. I see many fights in our future and lots of punishment! Please pray for us.

She says "mama, uh oh, and da da" and she tries to make animal noises but only if you know what she's doing do you really think her "quack" sounds like a quack. The other day I swear she said, "yogurt" but John doesn't believe me. She loves yogurt by the way! Anytime I offer it to her she sucks it down with a straw. She also loves to eat my spaghetti, french fries, chicken nuggets, bananas, oranges, blueberries, green beans, cranberry salad, cheeseburgers and waffles. There are other things she likes but she may eat it one day and then the next she won't like it. She loves to dip food into anything she can get-ketchup, honey, ranch, etc. I know the above list is not always the best foods for an 18 month old to eat, but when she sees her brother with these things she thinks she is a big girl too and wants to eat it all by herself. Her burger may be sliding off of her bun but she will not let you help her feed her self. Stubborn, you think?:) Avery is a good snuggler at bed time. She almost always will let you read her a story but sometimes she wants to turn the pages herself and she skips half the book. When you sing her a song she loves for you to pat her leg or arm and she'll usually pat you too. She loves to dance and when she does her booty usually gets low to the ground. Needless to say, we don't want her going to any dance clubs!

If she doesn't like something she will lie down on her stomach and cry. When she doesn't get attention for that she will get up and carry on with life. She will sit in her high chair at a restaurant when the food is there but if she's not eating she thinks she should get down and play, so restaurants are not always so fun with her.

She usually goes to bed about 7 and wakes up anywhere between 6:45 and 7:30am. She wears a size 4 diaper. She loves to brush her teeth by herself. She loves watching her brother and will try almost anything he does. She loves to pick things up and put them in bins or baskets. Alex usually has her pick up his baseball players and put them in the bucket for him. She is probably going to get her first hair cut soon!

Alex, Our Hero!

In early November, Alex, became a hero!

Here is what happened: He and Avery always go to the playroom while I'm taking a shower and/or exercising. He knows to keep the door shut so she can't get out. I could totally trust him to roam the house, but I can't trust her :). I was out of the shower and was in the kitchen when I heard him hollering for me. It wasn't anything scary, to tell the truth they holler a lot, but something just told me I needed to get in there. When I walked in he was holding the TV so it wouldn't fall on Avery. It was half on the table and the other half was in his arms. He said she had been pushing buttons on it and it started moving on the table and then she started messing with it and it almost came off the table and landed on her! Needless to say, he was hailed as a hero for the next few days! I took him to Toys R Us and told him he could get anything he wanted, within reason. The first thing he saw when we walked in were two race cars for $3. We looked through the whole store and that is still the only thing he wanted- so that is what my little hero got! I am so thankful he was in that room and helped save Avery from getting hurt! And YES, now we have safety straps on the TV so it can't slide off of the table.

We love you Alex!

Alaca Place Christmas

The first Sunday in December we went to see Santa throw presents off of David and Kristy's neighbor's roof! This is always so fun, especially for the kids. Hopefully, it will be a special memory for them one day when they think back to Santa throwing their presents down to them. Thanks David and Kristy for letting us come over!

Avery was watching Santa closely.

And Alex was patiently waiting for his name to be called.
With their presents...ready to go inside and open them.

Avery got a little pet carrier with a stuffed puppy inside.

Alex got a stuffed Swiper doll and a superhero book. He loved the book more than anything-we have read it 100 times! On our way home he said, "Santa didn't bring me any toys, I guess he is saving them for Christmas."

More Thanksgivings!

When we got back from Nashville we had two more Thanksgivings with the Warrens' and the Robertson/Reynolds/Propst families! Saturday night after Thanksgiving we went to Mimi and Williams for dinner.

Avery snagged Elly's pink boots immediately and loved them! I think she has a cookie in her hand and her mouth:).

Eating a lemon with Papa-always cute faces.

All three were singing and playing right before this picture.

Mimi bought them this dry erase table to eat and play on. They love it and can even write on it with markers!

Sunday, after church, we went to Papaw's to eat lunch. Mason hung out with Avery and made sure she ate well!

Alex and Abbie-sweet cousins.

And then Avery ate again with Grammy!

Playing with Uncle Parker! Parker now lives in Pennsylvania for his job so we don't get to see him as often as we used to. We miss you, Parker!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

November Fun Days!

We went to the McLeod's for dinner one night in Birmingham and got to hang out with the Harbison's and new baby, Clay, too!

Avery playing with Clay.

YEAH Julio!

Avery and Alex painting masterpieces!

At the Georgia State game.
Mario and Julio at 9am-This was right before two college-age looking boys knocked on my door to tell me they needed to come in my crazy, dirty house and check for termites. I'm sure they were very scared when they left!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving week the kids and I headed to Nashville to see my parents. We got there Monday night and then Tuesday we went to Jamestown for the day to see my Aunt Wanda and cousins, Joyce and Mike. We went to eat lunch with Mike at the bank where he works. Thanks, Mike, for letting us crash the luncheon! The kids had a great time hanging out in the conference room with everyone and started doing some silly things.

Avery thought it was fun to put the empty coke box on her head.
And she loved the food, of course.

Alex thought it would be fun to hide in the corner of the very small room.:) More on Alex's hiding later!
After lunch we headed to the nursing home to see Aunt Wanda.

They loved the bird cage in the hall-thank goodness-because it kept them occupied, while we visited and talked.

With Aunt Wanda.

Mom, Dad, Joyce and Wanda.

Alex had to show Joyce how he can write his name.

After just a little while, Avery started losing control.

And Alex started taking pictures of everything. Sadly, he dropped my camera and it never came on again. I am not blaming Alex for the loss of my camera-I have dropped it many times too! I was so sad to lose my camera right before Thanksgiving and Christmas but I used Mom's the rest of the week and then got me a new one as soon as we got back in town.

The next day, Tristan came over and we went to eat lunch and then went to play at Chuckee Cheese. Tristan could take it or leave it, but Alex and Avery loved it!

At lunch, Avery reverted back and thought she needed to sit in the carseat.

Tristan and Avery are both good eaters and they both wanted food as fast as I could get it to them. See Avery rising up? And Tristan kept grunting at me!

Sweet boy!

Avery could ride a carousel forever! She loves them!

Avery loves DarDar's sunglasses!

We headed to Russell and Nan's house for Thanksgiving. They loved playing with Tristan and Ty.

Mom and Dad got them matching snowman shirts to take a Christmas card picture in.

We decorated gingerbread men. Avery let Aunt Nan do most of the work and she just ate the decorations.

Avery doesn't think she is too big for the exersaucer yet.

Alex had to set up his baseball players. These things keep him entertained for hours!

So sweet on the way home! I am so thankful to God for giving me these two sweet, crazy babies! And all of my family!
