We are off to St. Thomas! Part I

May 1st we headed to Birmingham to spend the night so we could be ready for our early flight to St. Thomas the next day. May 1st is also the day we sold our house, bought another lot, and Kyler Russell (my nephew) was born! More on all of that stuff later...first St. Thomas.

Avery had to carry her own luggage everywhere we went.

She did NOT want me to take this picture. She really wanted to sit by Grammy and I hadn't let her move yet. I'm a mean mommy!:)

After we arrived at the St. Thomas airport we had a little delay because William's luggage did not come in. So Alex pulled out his schoolwork and did it on the luggage carousel.

Avery loved her new carseat for the trip!

The next day we headed deep sea fishing. Thankfully, this boat had a bathroom:) The last one didn't. I just knew Alex would LOVE this boat trip, but after the initial fun wore off he got a little sleepy and sick. He finally warmed up to the bait:).

This random guy with Alex was the first mate on the boat, just in case you wanted to know...
Alex was so excited to have his fish!

Some of our "catch" in a bucket...

Our "live" bait.

Our "crew" (don't really know what else to call them...the two guys who drove our boat and put out the lines:)) saw a big shark in the water and knew he had gotten one of our fish that was on our line. They threw out some fish for the shark to have and he (the shark) took off with it...there was no chance of reeling the line in! Look at this! Crazy!
So I was put in charge of sitting with the line that had the shark on it-to make sure he didn't pull it in the water...who here thinks that was a good idea? The guys kept walking by saying, "Don't let him pull that in the water!" Nice-no pressure! Jimmy, Parker, and John were all fighting this one big fish while I kept the shark occupied:) Finally, Jimmy took over for me.

The next day we headed to Jost Van Dyke island. We all went out on the boat and we snorkeled and ate and just relaxed.
We were so excited to see these dolphins! Our crew said they hadn't seen any in a long time...I'm sure they tell everybody that.

We stopped for lunch at Foxy Roxy's.
And roamed the island...
Mimi and William...LOVE THEM!

Avery snorkeled pretty well, if you ask her she will tell you she saw a mermaid:). Alex freaked out and finally did it for maybe 5 seconds. But the rest of the week he snorkeled in the pool-ha!
This is Sandy Spit island...where they filmed a Corona commercial.
Starfish...as we left Jost Van Dyke.

Eating some wheat thins...
If you look close you can see a sweet little red head in that chair:)
Alex loved going down into the cabin of the boat and sitting or lying on the bed. He pretended it was his house.
He wanted me to take this picture lying on the bed.

She is asleep-sitting straight up! Crazy girl!
Ready to snorkel...
Hungry girl.
Sleeping again...

Daddy and son relaxing...
