August 29th we celebrated David and Kristy's birthday at Mimi's house. Mimi made David his own yummy cake-that no one else really likes, but Alex, who had three plates of it:)
Avery and Great uncle David.
David mentioned a kitty litter cake to me a while back and I knew I had to make one for Kristy. Kristy loves cats so I had to make this cake for her. From their reaction I think it turned out pretty well (and tasty) and hopefully, realistic. It was even in a real litter box! Happy Birthday guys! We hope y'all had fun!

Nanny's birthday party!
August 17th we celebrated Nanny's birthday with her at Grammy's house. As soon as we got there we saw this deer hanging out in the backyard. And anyone who knows Emily knows she had some food on hand to feed it:) So she took the kids out and Alex threw some food out for him. The deer eventually came back after he was sure we were all back inside.
Alex wanted to surprise everyone with his claws! He is very into superheroes these days and really likes Wolverine's claws. Isn't he scary?
Great Uncle David and Alex.
Alex showing Great-Grandaddy a game on Grammy's phone.
Alex and Avery had to help Nanny blow out her candles. We hope you had a great birthday Nanny!
Alex loves "helping out" when it comes to opening presents:).
Avery showing Nanny another game on the phone. I just realized there are way too many pictures of my kids playing games on cell phones. I need to rein that in a little, I think!
Parker had some comic books up in his room that Alex found. I think they used to be David's and he and Alex sat down to read them. Alex sat there the whole time (probably 30 minutes) and listened to everything David told him about the superheroes. It amazed me that he sat that still and quiet for that long.

August Fun Days
They love playing under the HUGE elephant!
Avery's new luggage from us and my parents for her birthday.
Mimi and Granddan bought them pillow pets! Avery got a lady bug. She doesn't really love her lady bug until she sees Alex's monkey and then she wants his:)
Alex's monkey. He loves it and sleeps on it every night. He told me he can only sleep with his pillow pet now. Well, I guess there goes his regular pillow!:)
They were sweeping for me one morning.
Avery loves going through my cabinets.
I saw this in a parenting magazine and knew Alex would love it-and I couldn't mess it up. All I had to do was cut the bell pepper and buy some yummy french onion dip. He liked it and ate it for dinner one night but didn't get as excited about it as I wanted him to. BUT I was REALLY PROUD of it!
Avery eating her vegetables from the octopus. I found out she loves olives!
Singing with Mimi! He almost always goes straight for the guitars and they break into song. So sweet!
Roll Tide! He is so excited about going to the game this Saturday!
Avery hanging out with Granddan.
For a few days there she went through a period where she wanted socks on all the time. I would lay her in her bed for her nap or at night and she would stick her feet up and say, "uh oh." When I put socks on her she just grinned. It was so funny! Then she wanted them on during the day too. Here is her super cool mismatched outfit-pink and black slipper socks, and courtesy of Grandaddy and DarDar-pink camo boxers and a Cozymel shirt.
Alex one morning riding his new bike. I just now realized he has red underwear on. We had to get him a new bike when his old bike's pedals kept falling off every 30 seconds while he was riding it.
My sweet babies playing with the laundry basket.
Caden came to play one day and Avery followed her around like a little puppy dog. She loved holding Caden's hand.
Caden and Alex spun around 100 times in this chair out on the porch. It was hilarious watching them go round and round.
Avery has taken after her brother and thinks she needs a cell phone at the dinner table but not just one, she has to have two! What in the world? When Jimmy would try to take his back she would fuss and keep reaching for it.
Avery wanted to eat the whole apple!
